Oliver Twist

Monday, November 21st, 2005

At the first glance the film disqualify the melodramatic test of a tear bomb which characterised other Charles Dickens works.  However it is exactly this divergence that intrigue the fussy audience.  The warmest scene would be the granny cooking the hot diluted soup plus stale stone bread for the pretty boy.  Gastronomic watchers urge for a hot cream soup right after the screening.  Pretty Oliver spent most of his time hurt and laid in bed under the care of old folks and mother figure.  Beauty was all that it takes, always.  In the latter part of the movie close-up shots of the boy were largely absent, sympathetic audience dunno what to look for.  If only more awkward sentiments were shown. The John Galliano role and Mr Brownlow could be more a paedophile.  After the Chocolate Factory the audience ask for more.  Polandski has taken away all evil elements from the original, Oliver is supposed to be abused in the orphanage and his brother is supposed to have found him and intended to kill him (instead of Bill).   A fairy tale version of the work.  Nice soup.
